Dry the cover completely before storing it—unless you love the scent of mildew, in which case, ignore this step.
2. Check and Reassemble Pool Equipment
Dust off your pump, filter, heater, and any other gizmos that have been hibernating. Reattach all parts carefully—think of it as a puzzle, but with fewer corner pieces to lose. Need to replace anything? Better now than mid-party when your pool decides to throw a tantrum.

For us, we love the HTH 6-Way test strips (#ad link). They are easy to use and have a free app that you can download to help you maintain your water. You don’t have to use the app though. We had an issue with too much cyanuric acid this season, and were able to monitor that level easily with these strips to help us clear our water faster.
